Camp's Description

Academically motivated students, (grades 4-7), experience campus life at this co-ed residential camp while participating in a variety of fun activities and challenging projects!  Enrichment classes scheduled for 2012 include: Adobe Photoshop, Acrylics, Chess, Cooking 101, Corel Painter, Crime Scene Investigators I & II, Digital Storytelling, French, GPS, Living 1800s Style, Origami, Summer Theater, The Ferrum Challenge and A Week at Hogwarts Academy.  Traditional summer camp fun includes swimming, skit night, dance, theme days, and more.  Cost $655.00 per week. We are currently in our 23rd year! Classes involve active participation with a variety of daily projects and group activities.  Instructors are specially chosen for their unique abilities to make learning come alive.  Average class size is 15 participants.  Campers are enrolled in four classes. At FCSEC, we believe that a healthy self-concept is essential for fully developing one's talents and skills.  The daily academic program is balanced with a variety of social and recreational activities designed to promote personal growth, team-building and an appreciation of individual differences and abilities.  The camp motto is reinforced daily in a variety of ways as campers are encouraged to approach new learning situations with an "I CAN DO IT" attitude. Located 35 miles south of Roanoke, Virginia, Ferrum College provides a relaxed, informal atmosphere with the conveniences and security of a small campus.  Residence halls, classrooms, dining hall and sports facilities are located within easy walking distance.  Counselors are assigned to each group of 8-10 campers and provide supervision at all times.  Campers and staff are housed in air-conditioned Bassett Hall, in suites with private baths; males and females on separate floors.
