We are excited to share our commitment for your child to enjoy the positive benefits the Camp Friendship experience has to offer children ages 6-16! As a residential overnight summer program serving children since 1966, we have seen first-hand the positive impact that the camp experience has on the growth of our children. Increased self-esteem, making new friendships and gaining social competence, learning to work as part of a team, responsibility and building positive values are just some of the life skills gained and benefits from participating in Camp Friendship programs....and it's fun!
Camp Friendship is nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains on 730-acres of rolling hills and scenic woods in central Virginia. The camp features lakes for fishing, canoeing, and kayaking, swimming pools, tennis courts, gymnastics center, 70-horse equestrian center, mountain board course, riflery and archery ranges, sports fields and gymnasiums for a variety of sports (including fencing), a low and high ropes course, 2 1/2 miles of river frontage on the Rivanna River for tubing and canoeing, and an 18-hole golf course round out the variety of offerings of activities in the Camp Friendship experience.

We were excited to try Camp Frienship for our 13 yr. old daughter, as we wanted her to gain confidence through challenging and fun activities. After one week of traditional camp, she set out on a week's adventure of rafting, biking and horsebackriding. We were surprised to learn that 13 yr olds and 16 yr olds were rooming together at the first week's traditional camp, as the difference between 7th grade and high school is enormous! It was also very disturbing to learn that there were sexual antics occurring, more reminiscent of fraternity pranks than a kids' camp. The most disturbing lapse in supervision occurred when the 2nd week off-site was conducted, as the two (male and female) counselors were romantically involved and not focused on the campers, displaying unacceptable personal behaviour and not being focused on providing a safe environment for the campers. Most appalling was the lack of concern by the camp director, who ultimately did not respond to these very distressing events.

We sent our 12 (and 11 before) year old son to Freindship the past two summers. The location is great and there is a wide range of activities to keep them entertained and happy. We would likely send him back, but it has gotten pretty expensive, and he has outgrow the junior program. Overall I would rate it better than a couple of the other summer camps we're aware of. It's a well run camp and the directors are excellent.
