BRIDGES Camp for Girls is for adolescent girls who would benefit from building:
Confidence * Awareness * Healthy Body-image & Self-image
It’s not easy being a teenage girl in today’s media-saturated society where girls fear rejection & feel a need for perfection. BRIDGES Camp provides an opportunity for girls to discover who they are & to learn to love themselves.
Every day of camp, the girls have the opportunity to participate in fun fitness classes: yoga, pilates, hip hop, & more. In addition, we offer self-defense training & SHARP (Sexual Harassment and Rape Prevention training)...all led by certified instructors.
BRIDGES Camp believes in the value of "experiential learning" (learning by doing) & in relationship-based shared learning (learning from your peers). This is done through a combination of: (1) fun, interactive large group activities where girls get to know all the other campers and staff, & (2) small, structured support groups called BRIDGES Girls' Circle where 8 girls will meet together with the same 2 enthusiastic, professionally trained adult facilitators a couple times per day throughout the week of camp.
Themes covered:
Respect - for ourselves & others, for our bodies
Relationships - building strong friendships, communication skills, conflict resolution
Individuality - expressing ourselves, self-acceptance, celebrating diversity
Dignity - building healthy: self-esteem, body-image, self-talk
Goals - academic, career, life, money management 101
Empowerment - assertiveness, making healthy relationship decisions
Selflessness - learning appreciation & giving back, pay-it-forward projects
We encourage girls to find their true, authentic selves, to identify their own beauty & that of others, & to understand we are all worthy.
