Camp Encounter, Very disappointing

My experiences with Camp Encounter have not been as bad as others that I have heard, but overall it was a very disappointing experience. The camp is poorly organized and the facilities are in need of repairs. The lake has algae problems and causes rashes, meaning that swimming is no fun. The activities are sparse and there is a lot of time where the kids are bored and not doing anything. There are much better camps in the area to send your kids to.

The comments by sweatpeas is also incorrect. There has never been a Waterfront related death at Camp Encounter. Her statement about the Director turn-over are also inaccurate. I'm a little surprised that people are permitted to publish such slanderous and inaccurate comments on this website.

The review entered by hockeymom66 is wrong - we checked for her name in our records and there's no record of her ever having kids registered at Camp Encounter - not at the one located at Gunn, AB. I think she must be confused. Camp Encounter prides itself on its attention to standards set by the Alberta Camping Association. However, if there are anyone with concerns, they're welcome to contact me.

I sent my children to this camp last summer and I regret doing so. The stories they told me were awful, the counselors were mean, they didn't have any life jackets for the canoes, they were left alone for three hours at one point! It was horrible. I contacted the director and he was very rude and told me that my kids were "wusses". I will never send my kids again!
