Best Experience of my Life March 19, 2009

When I was a little girl I attended Pioneer's confirmand camp program and teen camp program. Now I am on their summer staff and have been for the past two years. The facilities are wonderful and you will have the experience of a lifetime. Camp Pioneer has a little something for everyone; if you're not much of an outdoorsy type of person it have the beautiful air conditioned Woodland cottages right in view of Lake Erie. There are programs for every kind of person from all walks of life; family camp, grandparent camp, Agape camp (for adults with mental disabilities), teen camp, confirmand camp (for children taking confirmation classes or for those who have just been confirmed) youth camp (ages 8-12), discovery camp (ages 6-7), take a break camp (for children who have parents in the armed forces), and papyrus camp (for children in foster care). Camp Pioneer is beautiful too. It has a quarter mile of beach on lake Erie and the sunsets over the lake are absolutely breathtaking. With most of the camp having a park-like atmosphere, it's easy to wonder where the week has gone at the end of the week. Camp Pioneer is also a place where people can re-connect with God. Every day during the summer there is a morning chapel service in either the outdoor chapel, or (if the weather is bad) in Hickman hall. The staff is almost always singing praises to God during mealtime prayers, chapel, bible studies, campfires, and other camp activities. Camp is also rooted deep in traditions. During someone's birthday they can expect the familiar "Um-ya-ya" song given by the staff at mealtimes, and certain mealtime games played by youth and teen campers. Camp Pioneer has certainly changed my life and it will change your life too if you spend a week there!
