Coed, international, ages 8 to 14, renowned elective programs in the arts and outdoors. Peaceful, farmlike environment, 350 acres with a private lake and heated pool in coastal Maine... Professional staff, individualized teaching, renowned positive community. Directors have lived on site for 20+ years... Wholesome delicious meals; we work with all food allergies. Great Place! November 22, 2008

Hidden Valley has been an important place in my family’s life. When one visits the property and sees the way in which the camp philosophy and structure have a positive impact on the children there, it is impossible not to be moved. Most parents I know love the setting, structure and overall warm feel of the camp. The faculties at camp are top notch. The programs are creative and taught by some of the brightest counselors I have ever met. And as some other posters have mentioned – the food is great! My wife and I are both delighted with the care our daughters have received and the atmosphere in which they live during the summers at Hidden Valley. Our daughters have enjoyed the time they have spent at Hidden Valley. Both of our girls plan to spend their summers at HVC for as long as they can. W wish they had programs for children all the way to 18!

A warm and loving community... November 21, 2008

I had worked at Hidden Valley many years ago...and am thrilled to now be a camp parent. My 9 year old son went to HVC for the first time last summer, and I realized how different it is to be a parent. I had to let go and trust that my baby was happy, safe, engaged and well taken care of. Hidden Valley staff and directors go above and beyond to create a nurturing and family-like environment. My son loved every minute of his time at camp..He loved his activities, the creative and sometimes wacky evening programs, the attentive staff, the plentiful and delicious food. He has already recruited his 7 year old sister for next summer! My son came home content and more mature...HVC is an oasis in a stressful world. You can't find a better camp.

Inviting home away from home November 21, 2008

I worked at HVC for 5 years and found the camp an inspiration for staff and campers alike. The people, and the place make it a wonderful home away from home for all. The camps ethos is followed through with great programs, activities, care of everyone and an understanding of people.

I have had 2 children attend HVC-my daughter for 6 years as a camper and junior counselor. My son is currently a camper in his soon to be third year. We love the camp and everyone who works there. The administrative staff is wonderful and will go to any length to make the campers feel at home. The setting is beautiful and the children are involved in wonderful activites that range from glass bead making to fort building and llama care. I can honestly say that I recommend HVC 100%. PS The food is wonderful and healthy.

A Peaceful place to be November 19, 2008

The camp is in a lovely setting. They foster creativity, self-confidence, and a sense of community in each camper, while attending to the needs of individuals. My daughter was very well taken care of, and despite feeling homesick because it was her first time away from us, she had a great time. She came home feeling good about herself and her experience, and she would love to go back again next year.

a special place November 19, 2008

My 9 year old son went for 4 weeks last summer (2008) and had the best time, he can not wait to return. The camp is small and nurturing. There is a wide range of activities for the kids to choose from, including sports, crafts, animal care, etc. It is definitely not a "fancy" camp but more of the funky, hippy-dippy variety, lots of animals, lots of silly activities, lots of fun. The staff all seemed wonderful and the food was excellent (and healthy). I know many other children of varying ages that have gone there and they all loved it. When I visited I thought "wow, this is kid heaven". I highly recommend it.
