|Last summer, I had the fortune to be able to attend Camp Kanuga for their Trailblazer Adventure. From the start, the camp worked hard to bond us into a tight-knit community of hikers. The counselors were all great, and we became very close to them during our trip into the wilderness. On the trail, I learned a lot about the Appalachian Trail community and bonded even more with my fellow campers. For eight days, we walked through grassy balds, across mountain ridges with amazing views, and through quiet and pure wilderness. One night we were sleeping under the stars, the next on a high mountain gap, and the next by a river. My camp experience has taught me about hiking, about myself, about life, and about how valuble the little things in our modern world are. (Like dry socks!). After listening to the stories that the other trailblazers told about their childhood experiences at Camp Kanuga, I wished that I had known about this camp six years ago. Without a doubt, my two weeks spent at Camp Kanuga were some of the best in my life, and I will never forget my time spent at camp on and off the trail.
