Camp Rim rock is the best place to be, Nov 08, 2008

This is my 5th year at Rim Rock. The first time I went, I was so
nervous because I didn't know what the people were going to
be like or if I would make any friends. I only knew one person
who went with me. After the first day, I was talking with
everyone. Just like that, I might have made friends with
everyone in my unit, even the counselors. The counselors are
what makes camp fun. They are there for you when you need
help and they are really fun to be around with. I still keep in
close contact with some of my counselors from camp on
Facebook. I have learned to be independent at Rim Rock. Its
like a second home to me. I love going because I know I will
make tons of friends and have a great time. Being away from
all the hassle at home is great. You get to be outdoors all the
time and do fun activities. Next year, I will be a CIT at rim rock
and I am very excited to be working at such a wonderful
environment.

The Best Summer of Your Life, Dec 07, 2006

| This past summer, 2006 was my 7th summer at Rim Rock. I was part of the Junior Staff program which is basically training for past campers to be senior counselors. The Junior Staff program taught me how to be a part of Rim Rock's amazing staff!. I started around 12 years old and had never been to a sleep away camp before. I was so nervous but excited at the same time. The moment I arrived at camp with my parents, I was greeted by several counselors who were eager to show me to my cabin and introduce me to the rest of the campers. Wow, I had only been there 20 minutes and I had 5 friends! I love Rim Rock so much that even after I moved to Texas I still return each summer. I started at Rim Rock staying for 2 weeks and since then I've increased my stays to 4, and 5 weeks! I never thought I could stay away from home for so long, but with all of the fun activities, time really flew by. I've met a lot of girls from camp that always go back every summer and even though we live in different states, we always remember eachother and the fun we had together at camp. Being a camper there for 7 summers, I can look back and see the big changes the camp has made since I first started. We've added amazing new sports fields, new horseback riding rings, and a barn. While the camp is a beautiful place, what really makes it special are the staff members. I've loved all of my counselors at Rim Rock. They really care about the well-being of EVERY camper and try very hard to help girls open up and just be themselves. I've attended a few other camps and have decided that Rim Rock's counselors have the most spirit and are highly respectable. What's really cool about Rim Rock's counselors is that a lot of them are from overseas countries from England, Ireland, Germany, Australia, and even Sweden. While having a blast a camp, you also get to know some other cultures which was pretty cool. I believe every girl should experience camp and I'm truly thankful that my experience was at Rim Rock. Once you spend a summer at Rim Rock, you will never be the same and you'll want to keep returning every summer. |

Camp Rim Rock Changed my Life, Dec 05, 2006

| I have been going to Camp Rim Rock for 7 years now. This camp has changed my life in so many ways. It taught me how to be a good person and that being me is the best thing. As a camper there I looked up to my Counselors, and I always could count on them. They Counselors are always there to listen and build a great bond with you. The campers are amazing! I have met my two best friends through Rim Rock. Each time I came, I never brought a friend, but ended up leaving with 300. This camp I consider my home. Now I am going through my second here of Counselor training, and it is the highlight of my summer! I have learned about dealing with people and pushing myself. The facilities are amazing. And the fresh WVA air is crisp and clean. To wake up in the morning at a place you love, and see smiling faces, and to be looking at beautiful land is the best feeling in the world. |
