7/26/2010 We heard many good things about Camp Sunnyside. Our experience with Camp Sunnyside was not a good one. Our son is a 9 year-old boy with Austism. Camp Sunnyside is specially for sepcial needs people. From the very begining substandard. The camp admin is disorangized and does not have a good idea what is going on. We selected specific weeks at camp because each week had a different theme, we could not tell any differnet from one week to the next. We heard a camp staff memeber comment that they were very short of staff members. these things are of some concern to us, but not our main concern. We were very concerned when Firday after a week of camp we found out our son had only eaten one day, and had spent most of his time in the gym waiting for us to pick him up. We were very concerned that they waited all week before they even talked to us. they also, expected a boy with Austism to pick after himself, . We felt like there was a bunch of kids from middle school whatching our son.
